I was born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I’d lived in “PA” my whole life, until moving to Colorado in the year 2000. The town I now live in is called Castle Rock, and as you might imagine, there is a large rocky mesa landmark in town that, from a distance, looks like a castle. Castle Rock, at an elevation of 6,202 feet, is conveniently located midway between Denver and Colorado Springs. I travel south every day about 35 miles to work at the WOW! Customer Care Center in Colorado Springs. The Call Center, located on the north side of town, features a beautiful, scenic view of Pikes Peak, one of the many “fourteeners” in Colorado. Colorado is a wonderful state to live in, a perfect state for anyone who loves recreation and the great outdoors. I’ve worked at WOW! in various roles since moving to Colorado. My current role is managing the Customer Care Quality Assurance Department. In my job, I get to listen to lots of customer calls and it’s apparent to me that WOW! is really fortunate to have such a friendly and loyal customer base. It’s no wonder we appreciate and value our customers so much!

Phishing Revisited

There’s been a renewed buzz around here lately about phishing so I thought I dig back into the archives for an article I published to educate our customer about this thing called phishing.  Click here  to check it out.

Bundle Up for a Great Price and Rate Guarantee

With 2011 on the horizon, I’m sure many people,  just like me are reflecting on the past year and thinking about how to start out the new year saving money.  One of the first places my head goes is to monthly expenses.   As the end of 2010 draws near, now might be a good time to  think about what phone, internet, and cable services you are buying and consider bundling up with WOW! for a better value with a price guarantee.  If you currently subscribe to only a single product, the price is not guaranteed.  But,  if you add another service (phone, internet, or cable) you get a great price plus the added bonus of a rate guarantee through 2013.  Yep, that’s right 2013.  Keep in mind rate guarantees apply only to the core bundle, so things like al a carte premium channels or equipment may be subject to a price increase.  Nevertheless, it’s still pays to bundle up so please call our Sales Department to talk about the great products and guaranteed prices we have to offer.

Give Thanks

In the spirit of the season, I wanted to use this space today to give thanks to you, our customers.  We know there’s plenty of competition out there in the marketplace and you choose to stay with us year after year.  Your loyal patrontage translates into  stable jobs for hundreds of people at WOW!  So, as we count our blessings this Thanksgiving, we count each and every one of you amongst them.  Thank you for being a WOW! customer.  Wishing you all the best this holiday season.

WOW! Channel Requests

I’ve written in the past about how we love feedback and love hearing what you think about the customer service experience you’ve had with our company. Did you know that we also love to hear from you about the channels you’d like to receive?  Yes! We have a place where you can give us feedback about channels you’d like WOW! to offer.  Click here to link to the online form to give us this feedback.  We regularly receive numerous requests for adding specific channels and we do take this into consideration when making programming decisions.  And although it doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll add it to our lineup, we will use your feedback to prioritize which networks we think would best meet the needs of our customer base. So, if there’s a channel or network you’re really wishing for, please let us know what it is.  Sometimes wishes do come true!

Home Networking Revisited

Thought I’d go back into the archives for an “oldy but goody,” a blog article that I think was really good information that you might like seeing again, especially now that the holiday season is nearing.  You might be thinking about upgrading your internet service and if you are, you’ll want to consider our home networking product.  Click here for a refresher on all of the benefits of opting for our wireless router and networking service versus buying  a router from a local electronics store and hooking it up yourself.

  2. Thanks for all the great recipes Libby! Here’s one you might want to try. My niece brought this appetizer for a holiday gathering last week. If you like hot buffalo wings, you’ll love this recipe. The special ingredient is the 1 cup of ranch salad dressing. She uses the Hidden Valley Ranch buttermilk packet and mixes it with 1 cup of buttermilk and 1 cup of mayonnaise. Mix this together first and then put it in the fridge to chill. This makes 2 cups of ranch dressing so use only 1 cup for the dip.

Here’s the Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip recipe:
    1 cup Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
1 cup Texas Pete buffalo sauce (Available at Walmart)
1 8 oz. brick of cream cheese
1 bag of Mexican blend (2 cups) cheese
3 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded or cubed

Blend all ingredients and place in a small crockpot to heat. This dip works great with the “Scoops” tortilla chips or serve with any chips of your choice.

  3. Hi Libby,
Cool photo! I like it! I noticed FOX Network’s “Hell’s Kitchen” is not on your list of favorites but that may only be because the new season has not begun. “Hell’s Kitchen” is my favorite. It’s sort of like an HGTV cooking show with lots of personality and drama behind the scenes, thanks to Chef Gordon Ramsey and his team of “Head Chef Wannabes.” I surfed around a bit to see when the new season begins, but couldn’t find anything. If you get any “inside scoops” about when the new season begins, let us know. I’m sure there’s lots of WOW! customer fans out there!

  5. Great suggestions on the movies, Libby and Steve. I’d like to throw out…Pretty Woman and The Notebook. Pretty Woman is a fairytale of sorts and The Notebook is a bit of a tear jerker, but a very touching love-dovey love story.

  6. Hi Debbie,
As an admitted person that normally does not leave feedback, thank you so much for taking the time, this time, to leave feedback! We love to hear from our customers and have launched this site exactly for this reason, so there is a place where we can hear from you on the things that are important to you. We promise to respond, either publicly here, or in private depending on the topic, to all comments received on this blogsite that require a response.

Your testimony about how satisfied you are with our channel line-ups and the affordability of our cable tv service is appreciated. We do rely upon customer feedback to continually improve our service. We know that we need to tailor our services, to the best of our ability, to meet and exceed the needs and desires of our customers. WOW! knows it’s really all about you, the customer, so again, thank you for your comments. We LOVE feedback!

I have good news for you! The channel Noggin is now called Nick Jr. and is offered with our Digital Basic Service in our markets. Boomerang is not. I will be back in the office on Monday and will do a little more research on this for you and contact you back offline regarding your specific bundle of services and what our Programming team has planned, if anything, for new Children’s programming.
    I will be in touch,
    Barbara

  9. Hi David,
I have additional information for you after checking with our Video Product Manager.
Sorry, I don’t have any news on any specific additional HD channels we are planning to offer other than the ones you mentioned on the website. There’s always capacity limitations to consider when adding more channels so we are currently investigating options to allow for more capacity, whether it be moving analog channels to our digital lineup or implementing alternative technical solutions, all with the goal of bringing our customers more HD channels.
In regards to MLB, I’m still working on getting some information for you on that front, but will respond here once I have something for you.
    I will be in touch.

  12. Hi Bismark,
Just a follow-up to your suggestions about our reordering our channel line-ups into genre blocks. Ive spoken with our Marketing team and this is something they’ve considered and they appreciate knowing that customers would enjoy such a change. And, regarding getting an online downloadable PDF of our channel lineup, I’ve passed this onto our Marketing team as well and they are looking into doing this in the future.
    Thanks again for your feedback.
    Stay in touch.

  13. Thanks for your enlightening comments. “I’m stuck on Band-Aids ’cause Band-Aids are stuck on me. Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner” Yep, I was there too. Very interesting perspective. And, it’s not hard to relate to using commercial time outs to take breaks; they’re certainly long enough to grab a snack and drink or to take a bathroom break. I wonder how advertisers are coping with shrinking air time as more and more homes have DVR’s installed?

  14. Very good point. You’re absolutely right. Unintentional orders like this are one of the scenarios that can happen. How many of us haven’t rolled over or sat down on a remote control? It happens. I’m one of those folks who doze off on the sofa in front of the TV so I’ve wrestled in a sleepy fog with a remote control or two. Given these circumstances, I think a credit to your account is appropriate and hope it will restore your feelings about WOW! I will contact you offline for your account information. Thanks for the feedback.
