Who doesn’t have a phone, iPad, e-Reader or tablet-like device that helps pass the time? As an electronic aficionado, it is imperative to have my essential apps from news to sports to entertainment. My apps are how I stay connected with the world at large.
I recently welcomed the iPad as the newest addition to my electronic family. If you have never heard of the iPad or not sure what it is all about, check out Steve’s blog about it here. And as much love as I have for my iPhone, the love for my iPad is even greater, if that is even possible! The nice big screen, the ability to showcase movies, presentations or even read a book at a moment’s notice makes this device worthwhile. But, I soon discovered not all apps are quite ready for the iPad just yet. That discovery helped me find some new apps that I wouldn’t have given a second glance to if that wasn’t the case.
Here are some of my favorite must have apps:
HootSuite – This app is designed for the social media watchdog. I have found this to be the best app for watching multiple streams, keywords and other social media apps in one convenient spot. As the personality behind The WOW! Buzz’s Facebook and Twitter, HootSuite keeps me on top of all the conversations.
Nook – If you love reading and are a fan of Barnes & Noble, the Nook app is a great addition. I agree with Steve about the feel of a book in your hands but the Nook is so impressive that it truly looks like you are reading from a book.
Dropbox - Tired of dragging around flash drives or external hard drives? Dropbox is a great way of placing your need to access files in a place that works on your computer, phone or iPad. I just recently tried it and was impressed at how easy it was to use. You can even share files with others without having to send an email, especially if it is a large file.
Flipboard – The ultimate convenient app if you want to read your latest Facebook and Twitter feeds along with other feeds of your choice. It is setup like a magazine that you can personalize and it flips through the pages with the flick of your finger. Very cool.
Well, those are some of my favorite apps. I would love to hear what apps you can’t live without.
